Our top 5 books

Bedtime stories are such an important thing in our house, and my two boys love it - we snuggle down and I read them a story (or two) before bed every night.

It forms part of their bedtime routine, and they love being able to pick what book they want read.

We’ve picked out our top five books:

The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr

I can remember reading this book when I was a child, and I love that I can now read it to the boys.  It tells the story of a Tiger who goes to tea with Sophie and her Mummy. The boys enjoy making all the noises the tiger would make as he’s gobbling up all of the food!

Pyrsi (Percy)

This is one of many Welsh bilingual books we have, and the boys love the Thomas the Tank stories (so we have quite a few of these books).  The boys like this story as it’s all about Percy having to be a brave engine.

Time for bed Fred by Yasmeen Ismail

The boys find this book very funny as its all about a dog called Fred who does everything but go to bed.

The Smartest Giant in Town by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler

This book is written by the creators of The Gruffalo.  The boys love the illustrations in this book which is about a giant who gives away his clothes away to help his friends.

Paw Patrol Annual

The boys could sit and look at this book for hours.  It’s a mix of stories and activities, and the boys love that it includes facts about their favourite Paw Patrol characters.

The boys are now members of the local library, so it will be exciting to see what new books they pick for us to read at home.
