Random Facts About Me - Blogger Q and A

I love finding out random facts about people so I was excited to be tagged by Donna from What the Redhead Said to take part in a Blogger Q&A!

I wonder what random things you’ll get to find out about me?!

When was the last time you cried?

I am quite emotional at the moment (and so will cry at the smallest thing),  my dad hasn’t been long out of hospital after having a stroke at the end of November.  It was so unexpected, and unfortunately a lot of people think that because he’s been allowed to come home that’s he’s better, and I really do wish that was the case, but sadly the reality is he isn’t, he still requires round the clock care, and some days are harder than others.

If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

Yes, but only because I’d be happy that I could join in on my own weirdness!

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Yes, but I’m generally quite careful about how sarcastic I am, as I’ve discovered people can take offence to things, even if the sarcasm was meant to be tongue n cheek.

What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Their eyes - I love looking at peoples eye colours, and whether or not their maintain eye contact with me (you can a lot about someone from their eye contact).

Scary movie or happy endings?

I don’t do scary movies, so I’ll always pick the happy endings (I don’t do sad films either, as I end up using a whole box of tissues).

Favorite smells?

Fresh linen - that awesome smell you get when you’ve just changed your sheets and it smells so crisp and lovely.

What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?

Kenya, I think. I went in 2003 and did a safari, it really was a once in a lifetime holiday as it was amazing.

Do you have any special talents?

I used to play the recorder when I was at school. I’ve learnt to knit. I can’t actually think of anything else.

Where were you born?

Darlington, County Durham

What are your hobbies?

It’s hard to have hobbies with kids, but I love to knit and practice using my sewing machine.  I’m also Chair of the school PTA and a school governor.  When I’m not doing any of that I’m working on my blog.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Either a pathologist or a vet - I end up being a Personal Assistant.

How many countries have you been to?

Quite a few - I was very lucky when I was younger to travel to quite a few places (Kenya, Antigua, Egypt, America, Greece, Italy, Spain - that’s as many as I can remember as it was so long ago!)

What was your favourite/worst subject in School?

English - I loved to dissect a piece of writing to understand what the story was really about and what the writer was trying to say - I loved Shakespeare!  My worst subject was textiles, I broke the sewing machine several times, and probably cookery too as I put too much cornflour in a sweet and sour and by the time I got home it had set, and was more a sweet and sour jelly with chunks of meat and pineapple!

What is your favourite drink?

Tea! It’s all I drink! We’ve just started having loose tea in our house and I do think it makes a better cup of tea.

What would you (or have you) named your children?

I have two boys, my eldest is named Charlie Jonathan George which is after family members who have died (so two grandfathers and my brother), and my youngest is called Rhys Alun Carwyn, hubby really wanted our second child to have a Welsh name, and we really liked the name Carwyn as a first name, but because we’d got a Charlie I didn’t want two boys beginning with C and arguments over post when they were bigger, so we settled on Rhys as a first name, Alun is the welsh version of Alan which is hubby’s name and then we opted for Carwyn as a middle name.

Who are some of your favourite YouTubers?

BatDad is awesome - although I’m not sure how his wife copes with him!

How many boyfriends have you had?

Not many, I was married to my first husband for seven years (and then we divorced), and we’d been together for almost ten years, and I’ve been married to Alan for eight years this September and in July we would have been together for ten years.

Favourite memory from childhood?

Dog walking in the forest my parents and brother - we would always take a rugby ball with us, some food and go for a walk in the woods, and it was the best thing ever as a kid. Outside running about, in the open air and I loved it.

How would you describe your fashion sense?

I have to fashion sense! Unfortunately I’m not one of those trendy Instagram mums, I buy whatever clothes are on sale and live in my waking trainers in the winter and walking sandals in the summer.

Tell us one of your bad habits!

Putting myself down, sometimes I do it without realising (I know it drives my hubby potty).

So did you find anything out about me that you didn’t know?!

Now it’s my turn to tag some fellow bloggers! I’m looking forward to reading the answers from Clare from Freddies Mummy, Sarah from Mummy Cat Notes, Katrina from Mums the Nerd, Shel from The Willow Tree and Laura from Dancing Dandelions.
